Oceanic Dive Center New Location!
We’ve been in the same spot in Kata since 1999. The current Oceanic Dive Center building has served us well over the years, and has been “home from home” for our loyal family of Oceanic divers. Now, with things changing so rapidly in the the dive industry in Phuket, we believe the time is right to move to a new location, where we can better serve the new generation of divers. Why Move?
Regular visitors to Phuket will know how fast things can change here. New shop houses and hotels are being built all the time; new roads are constructed to serve the new businesses and yet, as more and more holiday makers flock to our once sleepy little village, it’s becoming increasingly hard for new divers to find us, and especially to find parking nearby.
We realised that we needed to do something to make it easier for everyone, so we found a location that is easier to pinpoint on a map, more visible to passing traffic and with plenty of parking nearby.
Where is the Oceanic Dive Center New Location?
We wanted to remain in the same general area, so that our regular divers who come back every year can still find us easily. We also wanted to be near to the beach for our famous Kata beach dives. So we chose a central location on the busy Patak Road in Kata.
This is an area that has changed a lot in recent years. It’s long been somewhere we recommend to our divers because there are so many authentic, local Thai restaurants here. But in the last few years, more and more guesthouses and hotels have sprung up nearby, and it’s a spot that’s also frequented by a lot of holidaymakers, looking for a bargain at the nearby Kata night market, stocking up on provisions at the fresh market just across the road, or seeking out delicious Thai meals throughout the daytime and evening at one of the numerous local restaurants.
When Are We Moving?
We will be officially moving out of our current premises on 30th April.
In the meantime, we’re taking our time getting the new building ready. We’ll still have space to store dive equipment for our divers. We will have a big area for washing equipment, a large, bright classroom, improved storage for our rental equipment, a lovely new retail area and, a rare commodity in Kata these days… parking right outside!
During the early weeks of May we’ll be busy organising everything in the new dive center. We’ll still be open for business, but we may need to change our opening hours during this transition period.
