SSI Scuba Diver Course
The SSI Scuba Diver course is a great way to get a certification when you don't have time to complete the full Open Water course. The course takes just two days and you will be certified to dive, under the supervision of an SSI professional - Dive Guide, Divemaster, Dive Control Specialist or Instructor - to a maximum of 12m.
The ability to swim is not necessary to complete the SSI Scuba Diver course. So it's perfect for you if you're not a swimmer but you would like to get into diving. (You will need to demonstrate that you can tread water - float - in order to pass this course.)
Anybody over the age of 10 can take the course. (10 to 15 year olds will be certified as Junior Scuba Divers, but the course content is the same for everybody.)
The SSI Scuba Diver certification is valid for life, worldwide. And you can upgrade your certification to the full SSI Open Water when ever you like, in less that two days!

What's involved in the SSI Scuba Diver course?
The course takes two days and is split into three sections:
- Theory of diving: there will be around half a day in the classroom covering the basic principles that you need to understand before you can be considered a certified SSI Scuba Diver. You can choose to do the theory online if you like. That way you can work at your own pace, at home, before you arrive in Phuket. That will save around half a day of the course, so it means more time in the water!
You can create a profile now if you like, and have a look at the online materials for Scuba Diver, completely Free of Charge! Click the button below to get started.
- Skills sessions in the pool: you will learn the basic skills involved in scuba diving. The first time we introduce the skills, you will learn them in the safe, confined environment of the swimming pool.
- Open Water Dives: once you're familiar with the basic skills, we will introduce you to the Open Water environment, where you will practice the skills, during your Open Water dives, until you're completely comfortable with them. This is the SSI system of Comfort Through Repetition, giving you the time you need to practice each skill until it is second nature to you. The required minimum is two dives, and we offer an additional fun dive for free, giving you three dives in total.
